01INVENTED PRACTICE / Painting
Éloïse Maren
The memory of matter
Rust, coral and pale mineral layers refuse a single horizon. Follow the ridge that cuts across the surface: the image becomes a landscape only when you give it distance. Up close, it is an encounter with weight, resistance and the rhythm of a hand.
In this fictional practice, a painting begins as a sequence of deposits rather than a drawing. The imagined studio method alternates opaque passages with scraped-back intervals. The interest lies in the tension between a planned structure and the unexpected trace that makes it feel alive.

02INVENTED PRACTICE / Painting
Noé Valère
A horizon held open
A pale opening interrupts the blue. Rather than describe a coast, this imagined painting holds the moment before a view becomes familiar. Read the dark edge first, then let your attention drift toward the lighter centre. The atmosphere changes with the order of looking.
This invented position treats colour as a measure of attention. Edges are allowed to dissolve; a small bright interruption can change the balance of the entire field. The work proposes an encounter with atmosphere rather than a record of a particular coastline.

03INVENTED PRACTICE / Collage
Lina Sorel
Thinking in fragments
An arch, a cropped circle, a field of moss green. These fragments behave like rooms without walls. The unpainted intervals are as active as the coloured shapes: they create pauses, suggest passages and keep the composition open.
This fictional practice starts with cutting and rearranging. Shapes are moved until the empty space carries as much weight as the painted paper. Architectural references remain suggestions: a doorway, a garden wall, the turn of a stair.

01 / Deposit
The interrupted edge creates a route without fixing its destination. Try following it in the opposite direction.
02 / Interrupt
A small dark interruption can balance a broad bright field. Notice how attention need not follow size.
03 / Reveal
Both readings can remain open. This is an authored observation, not the artist’s documented intention.

01 / Gather
Try naming the differences by feeling or intensity rather than by a precise colour code.
02 / Veil
The same bright patch can suggest either an opening or a mark on the surface. Neither reading needs to win.
03 / Open
Changing the order of looking is a simple way to discover a second composition inside the first.

01 / Cut
The background can act like another layer of the composition. Let it take the foreground briefly.
02 / Arrange
The meeting of curve and cut sets the rhythm. Look for an echo elsewhere in the square.
03 / Leave space
This thought experiment concerns relationships, not improving or correcting the work.
